Salary: $80,000-$105,000

Full-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Location: 
  • Headquartered in Lewistown, MT with project locations in Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming
  • Travel is required at least 10% of the time by company vehicle.

Setting: 
  • Sitting up to 75% of the time at a desk in an office setting.
  • Standing or walking up to 25% of the time in an active construction setting.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or college in a related field of construction or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry Experience: 5 to 7 years of responsibility for the total execution of small to large commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand project documents such as plans, specifications, contracts, etc. 
  • Mut be able to understand labor, material and subcontract costs and the ability to analyze reports to effectively manage projects. 
  • Experience in the management of and collaboration with Superintendents, Foremen. Laborers, and all Support staff.
  • Construction-related certifications and additional relevant training are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in managing self-performance trade scopes is highly desirable.
  • Experience with construction-based software.
  • Montana SWPPP certification encouraged.
  • OSHA 30 training encouraged.
  • LEED GA or other LEED certification encouraged.
  • Lean training/certification encouraged.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Responsible for the overall pre-construction, construction, and closeout phases of a project.
  • Lead by example to motivate, lead and collaborate, effective teams to produce results while providing successful oversight and direction. 
  • Monitoring quality assurance of projects.
  • Manage financial oversight, budget review, change orders and estimating.
  • Manage subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Coordinating and tracking deliveries of equipment, material, forms, etc. 
  • Be a leader in Benchmark’s safety culture to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Effective relationship management with all stakeholders: Owners, Design Teams, Subcontractors, & Benchmark employees.
  • Supervise employees.
  • Work with Human Resources on labor retention, hiring, firing, and discipline of field employees.
  • Work with Human Resources on talent acquisition. 
  • Review the performance of employees working on assigned projects and collaborate with Human Resources regarding staffing developmental needs and evaluations.
  • Manage self-performance trades.
  • Develop and implement the overall construction schedule with the entire project team.
  • Collaborate with estimating and marketing departments during the preconstruction and pursuit phase of projects.
  • Assume responsibility and appropriately administer cost management for each project.
  • Review cost reports against budget with project team and suggest appropriate solutions to resolve variances, and communicate to management.
  • Accountable to management for monthly project team meeting (PTM) reporting and accuracy.
  • Schedule and conduct internal and external project meetings in coordination with the project teams.
  • Responsible for oversight of the procurement process by the project team.
  • Actively participate in community and industry events and activities to build professional network and promote Benchmark Masonry, Inc.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with residential, and commercial construction experience desired. 

    DUTIES:  
    The Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings, structures, equipment and other structures made all or partially of wood, metal, and concrete. The Carpenter must also perform general rough and finish carpentry construction, alteration and maintenance work on structures, scaffolding, forms, fences, signs, furniture and other temporary fixtures such as barricades, staking and storage areas. The position may assist other craft workers.

    1. Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction projects; performs manual work in preparing areas for construction.
    2. Operate power tools of all types and styles, including all other standard carpentry tools, to perform all aspects of the trade such as measuring, cutting and shaping wood, plastic, drywall and other materials.
    3. Performs materials handling and storage.
    4. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
    5. Build and position forms for pouring concrete, dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails or bolts.
    6. Perform aspects of rough carpentry including, but not limited to, framing windows and doors, sub-flooring and stairs.
    7. Perform aspects of finish carpentry including, but not limited to, trim, molding, furniture and casework.
    8. Erect and take down scaffolding.  

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The position is required to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires full mobility of the back, arms and legs in the course of performing this job. The employee must have excellent stamina.  While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is exposed to wet, cold, heat, quickly changing conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.

    CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR: In order for the estimator to validate the scope of work on certain projects, they are often times required to examine prospective projects in person at prospective job sites, in the Central Montana and surrounding areas.     JOB DESCRIPTION: This is NOT a remote position. The estimator will work at our headquarters office location in Lewistown, MT:
    • The construction estimator will often spend much of their time in the office budgeting work with the aid of software.
    • Construction estimating is a high-pressure job and must produce accurate realistic estimates.
    • Benchmark is looking for an estimator who is competent and capable of successfully completing take-offs of plans and specifications and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
    • Obtaining bid packages on projects from general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
    • Draft estimate plans and calculations of direct and indirect field costs for projects within budget.
    • Provide accurate, timely estimates for construction projects across multiple disciplines.
    • Identify and compute the costs of material, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
    • Analyze utility permitting, testing, and inspection costs.
    • Generate a cash flow table and project risk analysis report.
    • Prepare a soft cost budget including all consultants, plans, architects, etc.
    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • 75% of all jobs estimated are awarded.
    • Return residential bids in 10 days or less from the request date.
    • Commercial Estimates are completed 2 days prior to the due date.
    • Strategy meeting for all commercial, development, and large-scope projects is held 5 days prior to the due date.
    • Report weekly on dollars estimated for each division, the dollar value of bids awarded to each division, the projected start date of each estimate sent.
    • Review estimates prepared by other estimating groups to determine data completeness and procedures.
    • Compiling cohesive and accurate scope reports for all proposals.
    • Collaborate and Communicate with all necessary individuals to complete an accurate report.
    • Resolve discrepancies in estimate information.
    • Stay current on various trends and developments such as new equipment, methods, and procedures developing in the industry.
    • Travel at times when directed to do so.
    • Have a strong professional rapport with clients.
    • Work closely with Accounting for customer billing.
    ESTIMATOR SKILLS:
    • Be able to read, interpret, and understand construction documents, including blueprints, contracts, and scopes of work.

    WAGES:  Mason Foreman are paid using a scale based on aptitude and skill.

    LOCATION:  Benchmark Masonry is headquartered in Lewistown, MT but most projects are outside of the Lewistown area and some are out of state.  All job related travel expenses are paid for by employer, as well as perdiem pay.

    BENEFITS:  100% Employer Paid Health Insurance for Employee, Bonuses, Frequent Pay Raises, All Job Related Travel is Paid for by Employer as Well as Perdiem pay.  Career advancement opportunities are available such as superintendent, and project management.


    DAYS/HOURS:  Days worked are Monday-Friday if schedule is 8 hour days. Days worked are Monday-Thursday if schedule is 10 hour days.  When traveling, and often in the summer, work days are typically ten hours so that employees can have Friday-Sundays off. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:  A Mason Foreman must be a highly motivated individual with 5-7 years masonry experience. The qualified candidate must be experienced in running jobs, managing employees; Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals; Problem solving; Advanced Mathematic skills; Required to hold a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time. Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders. Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

    DUTIES:  A Mason Foreman is accountable for meeting production and budget goals; Job safety; Equipment maintenance and cleaning; The installation of work per plans, specs, and contracts; Meeting project schedule; Approval of Change Orders; Building teamwork on crew; Having the right tools and equipment on the job site to perform the necessary assemblies, installations, repairs, or remodels of masonry construction; Provides daily guidance, training, and direction to masonry crew consisting of journeymen, apprentices and laborers; Supervises day-to-day operations on assigned masonry tasks; Strong relationship building skills with field team, general contractors, owner/customers, and vendors to lead a positive work environment; Maintains an organized job site; Attends training seminars, classes, and conferences that further develop the individual regarding his/her area of specialty; Follows all company standards based on the employee handbook, drug & alcohol policy, and safety handbooks.

    TOOLS:  Required to provide own masonry tools. A tool list will be provided upon hire.
    Saws and Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied.
